We had a chocolate-cherry waffle and it was delicious. Hubby wasn't convinced that one waffle would be able to last him 4 hours, but it did. (Oh yeah, I think I forgot to mention in my meal plan I posted earlier that hubby gets one extra meal a day for a total of 2000 calories. He drinks a protein shake after his P90X workout for this meal.)
CHOCOLATE-CHERRY WAFFLE
1 Organic Flax Waffle (in the freezer case)
1 cup frozen, unsweetened cherries
1/4 cup semi-sweet (or darker) chocolate chips
Toast waffle. Warm cherries in the microwave. Place chocolate chips on waffle and then cover with warmed cherries to melt the chocolate. Enjoy!
These were slightly too chocolatey for hubby and I at breakfast time, so I think next time I'll reduce the amount of chocolate chips and add in enough walnuts to equal the same calories and give us our full MUFA serving.
What's a MUFA you ask? It's the whole premise of the Flat Belly Diet. MUFA stands for MonoUnsaturated Fatty Acid and according to the diet, you're supposed to have one of those included with every meal. The five main MUFA categories include: Olives, Oils, Avocados, Nuts, and Dark Chocolate. It's also the MUFAs that keep you full and give your meal flavor. The items in bold in each recipe is the MUFA item.
If all the food tastes as good as the Chocolate-Cherry Waffle, I don't think this will be that hard of a "diet" to follow at all!
